Is It Glass?

Is It Glass?

I attended the Chapel Hill Fall Art Festival this past Sunday, as a spectator, not a vendor. I needed a brain break and what better way to clear the mind then to attend an art festival. It was a gorgeous day out as well and we had lunch at Carolina Brewery that was right there on the same street the festival was. We watched all the other spectators go by. A Nice family day out.

I didn’t buy anything, but our son did. He purchased a Native American Style Flute from Bedford Avenue Flutes. I love the sound of the Native American flutes and wish I had the time to practice on one. I don’t even have time to practice on the flute I have.

But as a potter, I was really impressed with Liz Kelly’s pottery. At first, I thought her pieces were glass, but they weren’t. She used a method called Crystalline Glazing and now I have to try crystalline glazes for myself. Liz also won Best of Show  3-D. Congratulations Liz.

Happy Pottering!

“Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit” — Aristotle (384 BC – 322 BC) Greek Philosopher
